Glen Saint Mary Nurseries Company is one of the oldest family owned nurseries in northeast Florida and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. George Lindley Taber Sr founded the nursery in 1882 and began experimenting with a variety of fruit trees, including citrus. Little did he know that his legacy would persist 130 plus years as George L. Taber III and IV continue to grow landscape ornamental plants for the wholesale business, including the George L. Taber Azalea. Five generations of the Taber family call The Glen “home” and invite you to experience this heritage of family and the hospitality of this southern venue as you plan your special occasion.
The Mathis House was built in 1915 for a nursery manager, Mr Mathis and his family. This historic property is The Glen Venue’s main offering.
